The Supervising Psychologist will contribute to the supervision and provision of high-quality services that promote Forensic Psychology training for intern psychologists at the UNSW Forensic Psychology Clinic (UFPC).
About the role
  • $118k - $133k plus 17% Superannuation, annual leave loading
  • Clinical Loading - $8,400
  • Fixed Term - 2 years
  • Part-time (24.5 hours per week)
The role of Supervising Psychologist reports to the Clinic Director and has no direct reports.
Specific responsibilities for this role include:
  • Provide individual and group supervision of Master of Psychology (Forensic) program students while they are at the UFPC.
  • Direct and manage students' learning within the clinical setting, while evaluating their development of clinical skills and core competencies, including working from a FIT structure (Feedback Informed Treatment).
  • Directly observe and guide students' interactions with clients and client related activities, including, but not limited to: individual and group therapy, assessments; file review; psychometric testing; case and session notes; case conceptualisation/formulation; treatment and assessment reports.
  • Support students' training and provide them with learning opportunities, while also being responsible for maintaining a client caseload, which involves providing individual and group therapy and assessment services to forensic clients from a variety of referral sources.
  • Participate in and conduct educational activities (such as workshops) within the Master's program.
  • Participate in the Master program's development and evaluation, including provision of timely and ongoing feedback to the Clinic Director regarding the clinic's effectiveness, as well as individual student and group performance, in accomplishment of the program's outcomes.
  • Provide support to the Clinic Director and facilitate the functioning of the clinic by coordinating and carrying out office administration, including development of clinic protocols and resources, and file and system maintenance.
  • Ensure that high levels of ethical and professional standards are adhered to within the UFPC.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., CSNSW, Legal Aid, WDO, etc) to work collaboratively within and across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Will either have primary or backup responsibilities for external placement coordination and management of students into external placement sites.

  • Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
About the successful applicant
(Selection Criteria)
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Master's or PhD in Psychology, registered with AHPRA as an endorsed Forensic Psychologist.
  • Psychology Board approved supervisor with demonstrated experience of clinical experience post qualification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong skills with risk assessment and clinical intervention with variety of forensic clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
