Your opportunity
To assist in the provision of a high-quality nutrition and food service to Mackay Base Hospital consumers.
To assist in the provision of a high-quality laundering and linen service to the Mackay Base Hospital consumers and external contracted clients.
To provide operational leadership to both the Food and Linen Services staff and participate, co-ordinate and supervise in the provision of a high standard of service by ensuring all established policies, practice guidelines and standards are maintained.
About the Team
The Mackay Base Hospital provides a comprehensive healthcare environment that has been designed with a patient friendly approach to layout and location of services. Food Services plays an important role in the provision of a 7-day week service supporting the delivery of quality and cost-effective health service through the provision of nutritional meals to patients.
Food is prepared using a Cook Fresh service model under strict Food Safety Standards (FSANZ) and the Queensland Health Nutrition Standards for Meals and Menus. Food Services currently produces and provides over 18 000 meals and over 6 000 sandwiches per month, while additional services are provided to patients through means of three daily mid-meals.
Linen Services launders approximately 100 tonnes of linen monthly. Linen is processed and laundered under strict Australian/New Zealand Standards for Laundry Practice with both a manual and mechanised component to the daily work environment. Various services are provided to support other healthcare facilities within the Mackay region.
Mackay Hospital and Health Service has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
