Job Summary 

A unique opportunity exists for a highly motivated Supervisor Gas Utilisation Inspector to join a well-established team.

About the role

  • Maintains compliance with the ATCO Inspection Policy Statement and Plan by:
    • Supervising, supporting and monitoring Gas Utilisation Inspection activities.
    • Liaising with Building and Energy
    • Prepare and coordinate delivery of training and awareness packages internally (to ATCO Designated Inspectors) and externally (TAFE/RTO apprentices) to provide industry updates and promote gas installation safety and compliance.
    • Coordinating and supporting Gas Utilisation Inspectors to conduct investigations into gasfitting breaches, unauthorised gasfitting work, and consumer gas installation incidents, and preparing investigative reports to Building & Energy for enforcement action such as prosecution.
  • Support Manager Gas Inspection in working with B&E to address various industry issues and compliance with the Gas Inspection program.
  • Implement appropriate changes to the B&E eNotice platform and ensure ongoing Gas Utilisation Inspection support to ATCO inspectors and contractors.
  • Liaises with customers to provide assistance and expert technical advice with design, fault finding and problem-solving issues related to consumer gas installations.
  • Interfacing with gas metering and service equipment, with the provision of technical support to ATCO Construction, Engineering and Business Development teams as required for large/complex installations.
  • Following the agreed schedule, close out agreed risk management action plans, corrective action recommendations, and improvement recommendations from risk assessments and audits to reduce business risk to as low as reasonably practicable.

What we are looking for

  • Building & Energy Class G or Class I Gas Fitting Permit.
  • Building & Energy Designation as a Gas Inspector or in the process of getting Inspector Designation.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of gas inspection work (or similar), including managing and planning gas compliance functions (or similar).
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent experience and skills in incident investigations and report writing.
  • Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to influence and build and maintain networks with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
