Permanent Full Time

Location: Morwell

Salary Range $91663.12 - $99,412.18 plus applicable allowances and 11% superannuation

An excellent opportunity is coming up for someone to join the Open Space Maintenance team as Supervisor Horticulture, Landscaping and Wetlands.

If you have experience and knowledge in Horticulture and Wetland maintenance, this role will be an invaluable opportunity for you to broaden your skills and further your professional career.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of all horticulture areas and Wetlands. You’ll also oversee high quality presentation of all gardens Landscaping and Wetlands ensure maintenance activities within parks, reserves, open spaces and urban streets – are conducted safely, effectively, efficiently and promptly.

Working hours will be from 7:00AM - 4:00PM with 9-day fortnight. Workdays will be starting and concluding at Latrobe City Council's depot at Driffield Rd, Morwell.

About You

Your in-depth knowledge of horticulture, wetland maintenance and your proven leadership experience will drive you to produce work of the highest quality and your friendly and professional communication with the public, clients and other employees will help get the job done.

You will also need:

  • Demonstrated understanding of Melbourne Water Wetland Design Manuals and Melbourne Water WSUD Maintenance Guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in chemical usage - herbicides, fungicides, algaecides.
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Ag Vet Chemical Users Certificate or Acup License.
  • Current Certificate Traffic Management and Control.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence with minimum Light Rigid endorsement.

As Supervisor Horticulture, Landscaping and Wetlands, you will:

  • Provide leadership, direction and training to Horticulture, Landscape and Wetlands teams in accordance with the Council Plan, Strategies, Policies, Procedures, Horticultural Standards and KPI’s.
  • Ensure all Council managed garden beds and Wetlands are inspected, planned maintenance programs followed, ensuring that all resources are fully and consistently utilised, and problems are recorded and rectified within allowable timeframes.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service is provided and ensure that customer requests or complaints are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Make recommendations regarding future renovation works required, future plantings, installation of any necessary drainage and artificial watering systems and other related specialist gardening matters.
  • Regularly review staff performance against objectives and identify training and development required for improving performance, effectiveness and job satisfaction.
