About Lions Eye Institute

The Lions Eye Institute is one of Australia’s largest eye clinics and vision research centres treating approximately 60,000 patients annually. Our Nedlands clinic also incorporates Western Australia’s premier refractive surgery centre Lions Laser Vision and a Day Surgery Unit which performs over 8,000 surgeries each year. 

The Opportunity

Due to recent growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Surgery Bookings Officer to join us on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for the coordination of all surgical bookings, patient liaison and preparation of theatre lists for LEI’s day surgery unit and various hospital locations throughout Perth.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Exemplary telephone techniques and email liaison skills.
  • Deliver the highest standard of patient care including greeting of patients and their relatives.
  • Patient eligibility checks with health funds.
  • Receiving excess payments prior to presenting to Day Surgery.
  • Booking patients for theatre, including entering of procedures to VIP.net program.
  • Liaising with external hospital sites, surgeons and anaesthetists rooms as required.
  • Receive and respond to theatre booking enquiries as necessary.
  • Providing informed financial consent to patients.
  • Confirm patients for surgery, including admission times and fasting details and organise scripts when necessary.
  • Arrange and coordinate special requirements for surgery in conjunction with LEI Day Theatre Manager and external hospital sites.

Essential

  • Typing & data entry accuracy skills
  • Customer service experience in a fast-paced role
  • Previous experience in a day hospital setting or specialist medical practice is highly regarded
