Canberra Eye Surgeons is a comprehensive Ophthalmology practice in the ACT. We are located in Deakin. The private consulting practice offers a full range of consultations, diagnostic tests, and surgical procedures (off site).

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse or administration Surgical Bookings to work on a full-time basis within our consulting section. Reporting directly to the Practice Manager the role will involve a variety within a fantastic friendly team environment where staff are supported and encouraged to take responsibility and ownership of their roles.

Key Responsibilities

·         Surgical bookings for patients – in person and via phone

·         Amending Surgical Bookings on behalf of the doctor or patient

·         Confirm and update patient details into computer system

·         Schedule patient after surgery appointments 

·         Prepare surgical documentation including admission requests, patient               consents, informed financial consents, instructions 

·         Provide information to patients regarding their surgery

·         Answer telephone calls & enquiries

·         Liaise with patients and their family members in a compassionate                     manner

·         Liaise with the doctors regarding Surgical Bookings and patients

·         Liaise with hospital staff on all aspects of patient bookings

·         General administration support

Experience & Attributes

·         Nursing background or medical experience

          Working knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and                    grammar

·         Demonstrates effective and competent written and verbal                                   communication skills

·         Professional telephone manner

·         Exceptional customer service skills

·         Proficient computer skills

·         Maintain a professional and courteous attitude

·         Demonstrates initiative, time-management & flexibility

·         Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritise work

·         Participates constructively and positively as a team player

·         Well presented

·         Demonstrates attention to detail
