System Engineer / Splunk Architect (Multiple) - RFQ-ASD-5-2024 - SOW 1 - RereleasedDue to the nature of clients we work with here at Kinexus and the projects these roles will be based on, an Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance is essential.These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade).ABOUT THIS ROLEMission Capability Division within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), will deliver cutting edge capabilities to Defence through a variety of different programmes and projects. To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a System Engineer.The System Engineer / Splunk Architect will be responsible for the design, integration, testing and documentation of engineering subsystems under general direction and guidance. They will require an understanding of the ASD environment, processes and procedures and are required to take this into account when designing subsystems.The System Engineer/ Splunk Architect will be required to work across a variety of disciplines including mechanical design, thermal design and modelling, ICT infrastructure, ICT security and embedded systems development. They will be required to take broad customer requirements and develop the appropriate project documentation.The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.ABOUT THE COMPANYAustralian Signals Directorate (ASD) is the federal agency responsible for foreign signals intelligence, cyber warfare and information security. Long contracts (12 months+) available.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ongoing review, design, development, and continual improvement of Splunk deployment(s).
• Design, support and update documentation including standard operating procedures and detailed design documentation.
• Work with system developers to onboard new data sources - including the development of "apps" to provide automatic field extractions and event enrichment.
• Maintain fundamental knowledge of other system landscape components including: solution operating systems, load balancers, hosting environments, and networking in order to design, deploy, maintain, and enhance solutions.
• Enhance and support automation and continuous deployment for existing, and new, systems. Implement and maintain automated testing.
• Monitor Splunk deployment(s) and associated infrastructure. Provide assistance with support requests, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Recommend/design and implement new structures and tools which meet business requirements for a variety of target environments.
• Provide guidance and direct the work of other team members.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• Demonstrated experience creating and updating technical documentation and operating procedures.
• Demonstrated experience working with virtualisation technologies.
• Demonstrated experience monitoring and actioning security alerts and incidents.
• Ability to maintain and upgrade device software, firmware versions, racking, cabling and labelling of current and new infrastructure.
• Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential.
