Nauru Airlines is the national carrier of the Republic of Nauru, operating passenger, and freight services to and from the Central Pacific. Operating a fleet of 737 classic and new generation aircraft, Nauru Airlines hub is in Nauru with the operational head office in the Brisbane CBD. Nauru Airlines operates under the Australian Civil Aviation Legislation to ensure we operate to one of the highest safety standards in the World.

We are seeking a full-time permanent Systems Security Officer to join our growing safety team at the Brisbane head office.

The successful applicant is required to be airline security focused while achieving timely outcomes in a safe and compliant manner.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Constructively leading and influencing the desired behaviours of staff in maximizing safety and security performance.
  • Fostering a focus on safety and security.
  • Actively influencing department team members to deliver the required standards of security performance.
  • Ensuring the security functions are undertaken by airline personnel and procedures are implemented in accordance with the TSP, Nauru Airlines AOSP and IOSA requirements.
  • Daily oversight of the airline security operations.
  • Ensuring the security training program is being conducted by qualified Instructors and scheduled for implementation as it falls dues.
  • Ensuring all security related records are kept for the mandated periods, are catalogued, and kept in a manner that allows ready retrieval. 
  • Coordinating, Monitoring and actively supporting the DAMP program.
  • Contributing to the development of the annual security audit plan.
  • Conducting security audits to ensure airline personnel and contracted service providers are conforming with documented security procedures.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and investigations or reviews into incidents or occurrences as required.
  • Ensuring all security investigations are, in concurrence with the Head of Quality & Safety Systems, conducted in accordance with policy and feedback processes and that feedback is provided in a timely manner to departments.
  • Conducting security surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of security control measures in outports and provide survey reports containing results. 
  • Determine any corrective and preventative actions deemed appropriate to be implemented.
  • Providing timely input on any security threats either real or perceived. 
  • Providing support to Departments in advising on security risk control and mitigation measures when requested.
  • Conducting a security emergency response exercise once every two years. 
  • Assessing and providing advice on safety and security risk data, potential threats and trends.
  • Liaising with security stakeholders and advising the Head of Quality & Safety Systems of Any security issues or security threats requiring attention, any increased risk of threats, international safety, and any high commissions and any states to which Nauru Airlines may operate to.
  • Liaising with security stakeholders and advising the Head of Quality & Safety Systems of Any manual amendments or security bulletins to staff required.
  • Ensuring all staff and service providers maintain compliance with the TSP, Nauru Airlines Security Programme, IOSA SEC, and any other applicable security requirements.
  • Participating in security meetings held by CASA and/or the Airport Operators, and other aviation stakeholders.
  • Participating in third party security audits by regulatory authorities and airline partners
  • Providing input to and participating in the Emergency Response Program.
  • Collating monthly reports from the line Departments and contracted service providers in a timely manner on matters of security. Presenting this information at the SRB meeting. 
  • Conducting security awareness training in conjunction with department managers.
  • Issuing security bulletins.
  • Conducting security surveys and vulnerability assessments.
  • Providing support to Departments in implementing security risk control measures when requested.
  • Providing operational support in accordance with the processes and procedures in the company manuals.
  • Undertaking other duties as reasonably requested from time to time.

You must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • A Diploma in Aviation, or 2 years of relevant experience.
  • A broad knowledge of airline security operations.
  • Proven relationship building experience.
  • Experience in conducting audits.
  • Experience in conducting training.
  • Leadership qualities.
