We are looking for experienced an experienced senior Geotechnical Engineer to join with one of the largest tailings projects in Australia. The Role
We are currently looking for Senior Geotechnical Engineer to assist one of our clients based in Central NSW.
The roles are site based on a 12/9 (monday to following friday allowing 2 weekends at home per swing) roster with FIFO from MEL/SYD/PER or DIDO options available.
The role is to sit on the owners team and manage the geotechnical consultants as well as contractors executing a remediation and lift on a tailings dam. We need an experienced engineer who can hold their own against a consultant and work cooperatively with stakeholders to achieve practical and safe designs. This requires a strong technical background and project management skills, if candidates do not yet have project management skills there is the support on site to build these however it must be of interest to develop these skills (it is not a purely technical role).

The Duties
- Operational Geotechnical day to day risk management, including regular inspections, production support and hazard reporting;
- Development, implementation and management of ground control standards;
- Lead teams and explore innovation in tailings dam analysis and design;
- Review and assess high-level and detailed designs for tailings storage facilities to meet regulatory and project requirements.
- Provide technical advice and consultations to a variety of stakeholders
- Conduct geotechnical awareness training if required;
- Slope stability modelling, operational design review and reporting, communicate and presenting the potential risks to different stakeholders, with requirement to use RocScience suits
To be considered you must meet the following criteria:
- A tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or similar;
- 5+ Years relevant experience
- Proven track record in a Tailings project.
- Project Management experience highly regarded
- Experience using RocScience Suits
- Exceptional and professional communication skills to engage and influence other personnel within the business.
- Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills.
- Maintain an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
