Are you a meticulous and experienced Tax Specialist seeking an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment? We are currently looking for a skilled professional to join our client who are a Tier 1 mining organisation on a 3-month contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating closely with the Tax Manager and other members of the Tax team to assess and fulfill all local tax reporting and compliance duties for both direct and indirect taxes
- End-to-end tax effect accounting and forecasting processes during monthly Finance Period End Close processes and annual statutory accounting disclosures. This includes providing tax transparency and economic contribution information
- Assisting the Tax Manager in managing relationships with Regional Tax Authorities, handling queries and audits
- Providing support in preparing advice on tax outcomes for significant projects, including major capital expenditure investment cases, and reviewing and analysing legal terms/clauses in proposed contracts with external parties to recommend tax language and structuring for optimal outcomes
- Contributing to the execution of strategies, plans, budgets, and performance targets related to key regional Tax priorities
- Assisting in the management of external auditors, advisors, and other outsourced service providers
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Proven experience as a Tax Specialist in the mining industry is highly desirable
- Specialist knowledge of income tax, fringe benefits tax, goods and services tax and WA royalties
