Form of workOur client are a State Government body who provide insurance and care services to the businesses, people and communities of NSW.
They are currently seeking a Taxation Manager experienced in indirect tax – fringe benefit tax, GST, payroll tax, pay as you go, workers comp. This is a 3 month contract with the opportunity to apply for a permanent role. The position is paying $794 - $880/day + super, and is hybrid working at home and the office.
Successful candidate can be based in Sydney, Gosford, Parramatta or other locations.
The primary purpose of the role is to plan and manage the taxation obligations of icare to ensure it complies with legislative and reporting requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the General Manager (Financial Management and Treasury) in the management of icare entities’ taxation obligations.
- Prepare / review, approve and lodge icare entities’ Goods and Services Tax (GST), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Insurance Duty and Payroll Tax returns.
- Prepare / review, approve and lodge icare entities’ Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR) for Government entities.
- Provide support and advice to ensure that icare entities registered as PAYG withholders in relation to compensation benefit payments meet their tax compliance obligations.
- Monitor developments, conduct research and provide advice in relation to taxation matters to management and service lines - including advice on the impact of Federal and State tax reforms on icare entities.
- Build and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure high level standards of governance and controls over icare’s transactions to ensure taxation requirements are met.
- Work collaboratively with a team of professionals in order to provide support for the urgent needs of the financial reporting areas of the Financial Management and Treasury team.
- One direct report who is based in Gosford.
Qualification & Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related discipline and accreditation through a professional accounting organisation (e.g. CA or CPA)
- Strong attention to detail and is self-directed, investigative by nature and meets deadlines.

Experience
- A tax specialist with extensive (10+ years’) experience in managing relevant taxation matters in large organisations, with detailed knowledge of GST, FBT, Payroll Tax and PAYG withholding matters.
- Gather, analyse and report on taxation related data.
- Analysis of complex issues, strategic problem solving.
- Contribute to and development of business plans, and implementation of comprehensive strategies.
- Highly motivated and engaging individual with exceptional stakeholder management skills, who will listen, negotiate, consult, and work in close partnership with stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver required outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Ability to research complex issues to determine appropriate evidence-based solutions.
- Exposure to developing strategic initiatives such as policies and processes
- Use of online Tax portals.
