Yunex Traffic is seeking experienced Field Service Trade Assistants to join it’s growing Melbourne based team. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in the Victorian Traffic Signal and ITS industries.
The Field Service Trade Assistant role has the primary responsibility for supporting the Installation, maintenance and inspection of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) assets and Traffic Control signals (TCS), ancillary equipment, and other highways electrical systems.
You will be responsible for performing works on TCS and ITS assets in line with Yunex, legislative and customer contractual requirements. Maintenance works can be of a planned or reactive nature, and you will have the ability to respond to a changing environment.
Areas of responsibility and tasks
- Installation, Fault finding, inspections, routine, and corrective maintenance of assets, such as Traffic Control Signals (TCS), Variable Message Signs (VMS) and Hazard warning signs (AWS, VSLS) etc.
- Assist testing of TCS and ITS assets.
- Preparation of equipment prior to final installation e.g., Traffic Signal Controllers or vehicle detection systems.
- You may be required to join a standby roster responsibility for emergency repairs and out of hours working to support service and installation requirements.
- Installation or modification of new and existing TCS and ITS assets.
- Successful completion of mandatory technical or safety related training.
- Undertake appropriate training with the addition of new equipment and systems as and when necessary, via formal and informal training, including on the job training.
- Liaising with customers and other contractors that may be on site.
- Ensuring works are completed in accordance with the site specification, in a timely manner and to a high-quality level.
- Conduct yourself in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, all employees have a duty to comply with all Health and Safety Procedures and to be alert in identifying potential hazards by removing or minimising them wherever possible
- Any other duties reasonably requested within the skills required for the role
Knowledge & Skills
The key competencies and capabilities for this role are:

- Must hold full Australian (or equivalent approved) Driving License.
Required Experience & Qualifications
It is desirable to have a technical knowledge in the following, and hold the relevant qualifications and licenses:
- Vic Roads, Section 730 – Traffic Signal Installation
- Knowledge of TCS and ITS products from across the industry
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications
- SCATS knowledge
- Driving Licence (Full)
- White card
