This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024.

Gilmore College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Arts Media Teacher to join their team.

The successful applicant should be a committed and highly motivated educator with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. To be suitable for this role, you should be student and relationship focused, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment. You should reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the school and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve success.

The successful applicant will ideally have the opportunity to apply their expertise of the Arts Learning Area across Years 7 to 12, utilising their knowledge and teaching experience in senior school Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE), to encourage and support our students to achieve outstanding results. The successful applicant should also have an understanding of how to differentiate their teaching to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.

The capacity to teach Australian Admission Tertiary Rank (ATAR) courses and previous experience or qualifications teaching English would be highly regarded. In addition, experience and/or knowledge teaching specialist low level literacy programs is also desirable.

Gilmore College is an Independent public school which opened in 2008 continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School. The school continues the education of students from within the City of Kwinana area primary schools.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
