We are seeking a full time, passionate and highly skilled Outdoor Education Teacher, with the ability to also teach Health and Physical Education. This is a temporary position for Term 3, 2024 start date 15/7/24.
About the role: Sacred Heart College has a long-standing history of high performance and achievement in Health and Physical Education (HPE) and Outdoor Education. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be part of a supportive and dynamic team.
Your responsibilities include:
- Ability to teach general Outdoor Education (lower school).
- Teaching Health and Physical Education to students in Years 7-10.
- Supporting and promoting a standard of excellence in HPE and Outdoor Education.
- Ability to differentiate the HPE and Outdoor Education curriculum to a range of ability groups to ensure individual student success.
- Ability to effectively manage a Pastoral Care Group (PCG).
- Ability to work collaboratively to build rapport with students, parents and all College employees to develop respectful, inclusive and positive working relationships.
- Being safety and risk management minded. The safety and welfare of students will always be the highest priority.
What we are seeking:
- The ability to teach general Outdoor Education to lower school students.
- The ability to teach Health and Physical Education to students in year 7-10.
- The ability to participate effectively and collaboratively within the current team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to a fast-paced working environment.
- Excellent working knowledge of the current Western Australian Curriculum to develop effective learning outcomes for students.
- High level of organisational and planning skills to support the College's various sporting competitions.
- Actively participate in extracurricular activities.
- Extensive experience in outdoor activities such as, but not limited to hiking, camping, canoeing, abseiling and rock climbing, mountain biking and snorkeling.
- An awareness and appreciation for the Catholic ethos of the College.
Further consideration will be provided to applicants who have:
- Current Western Australian Medium Rigid (MR) license and bus driving experience.
- Current Aquatic rescue qualification (Surf rescue, ARQ, START, Bronze Medallion)
- A current first aid qualification, preferably for wilderness or remote area.
- Qualifications for guiding or instructing in canoe and/or kayak.
- Current qualifications as a guide for abseiling and climbing on natural surfaces.
- Relevant qualifications in swift water rescue, or similar.
