Your Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join a high performing teaching team in the role of TAFE Teacher – Automotive.

If you have current industry experience, knowledge and relevant qualifications in the Automotive trade, this role will provide you the opportunity to influence the careers of future tradespersons by teaching your extensive industry knowledge to students in a classroom or educational setting.

This position is a permanent full-time opportunity.

The position reports to the Educational Team Leader and is based at TAFE Queensland’s Ipswich campus, however the appointed candidate may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses or worksites, and travel associated with delivery will be compensated.

You will contribute to developing and delivering quality learning, teaching, and assessment to a wide range of clients through:

  • Outcome focused vocational education and training (VET) programs;
  • Linking with industry, schools, universities, community, other TAFE and VET providers;
  • Maintaining currency with industry practices, workplace delivery and contemporary teaching methodologies and philosophies; and
  • Working in an environment of ongoing change and continuous improvement.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must possess relevant formal vocational qualification Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent and the following:

  • Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided; and
  • Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (or TAELLN401A) and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools (or TAESS502A or TAEASS502B); or
  • TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
  • TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
  • TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
  • TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or its successor; or
  • A higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

Highly desirable: 

Additional Qualifications in Automotive Electrical, Mobile Plant, Heavy Vehicle or MEM – Fixed Plant.

Salary

The salary range for a TAFE Teacher is $81,867 - $109,586 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.
