Behaviour Support Practitioner - Allied Health
We are seeking to recruit a Behaviour Support Practitionerwith a degree in Psychology, Social Work or equivalent who is compassionate and enthused about delivering high-quality person-centered care to their clients. The position is suitable for aprovisional psychologist, speech therapist or occupational therapist with an interest in Behaviour Support. The position will suit someone looking for part-time or full-time employment.

We are a small practice delivering high-quality holistic support to individuals in the NDIS. Positive Futures Queensland offers a mobile service to our participants meaning you will be required to travel to and from their home. You will have the flexibility to work remotely where appropriate (i.e. work from home) and can also work from the Positive Futures Queensland offices located in Bellbird Park and Springwood when required. This position may require supporting participants in the Greater Brisbane, North Brisbane and South Brisbane areas. We are excited to welcome a friendly and passionate person to our team.
We offer onsite board approved supervision as part of your role for all provisional psychologists.
What the role will involve:
- Develop Behaviour Support Plans including Comprehensive and Interim Behaviour Support Plans that meet the NDIS commission’s requirement for the use of Restrictive Practices and their implementation.
- Provide capacity building, Person-Centred Behaviour Support services to a varied and complex client caseload.
- Provide training and specialist advice to small stakeholder teams on Behaviour Support Plans, best practice and Restrictive Practices.
- Ongoing evaluation around the suitability and effectiveness of the implemented strategies collaborating with families and stakeholders, both informally and through participation in regular service reviews.
- Provide a range of assessments to a wide client base including diagnostic, adaptive behaviour, function of behaviour, and cognitive assessments within the scope of your qualifications.
- Provide evidence-based clinical knowledge, expertise and support to clients and their stakeholders.
- Consult and liaise with clients, allied health, care providers, carers/family members, relevant agencies and government departments.
- Provide counselling and psychotherapy to clients.
- Provide psychosocial skill development and support to clients and their families on a range of mental health and psychosocial disability issues.
- The role has flexible work arrangement built in. Components of the role will be completed remotely however you will be required to occasionally attend the office for meetings, consultation and client sessions.
Preferred Applicants:
- At least 1 year experience working as a Clinician, Behaviour Support Practitioner, or equivalent role is preferred.
- Experience working with complex clients, including people with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and non-verbal clients.
- Prepared to work from home and travel regularly to clients/service providers.
- Able to write in-depth reports including assessment reports, development of strategies, Behaviour Support Plans and reports to medical or government departments. Good written communication skills are a must.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with team members, as well as stakeholders.
- Have a reliable vehicle to enable travel to and from clients and stakeholders.
- Be registered with the relevant governing body if appropriate (AHPRA, Ed QLD, AASW etc.). Provisional registration is suitable.
