Appointment Pool

Ashfield Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

Teachers at Ashfield PS are committed to implementing consistent whole-school approaches in literacy and numeracy that focus on evidence-based instruction and practice. Daily Reviews, Talk4Writing, Heggerty and Spelling Mastery knowledge is highly desirable. To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess knowledge and understanding of the effective use of explicit teaching strategies and be dedicated and committed to improving student learning through continual teacher growth. As a teacher at our school, you will contribute to a positive team culture and enjoy the challenge of working at a school seeking to raise standards and improve student outcomes. Teachers within our Early Childhood Education phase of learning will promote the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.

Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to reflective teaching practices through active participation in a culture of professional growth. This should include coaching, classroom observation and feedback, as well as teachers who are committed to their own professional learning to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary, evidence-based approaches. Understanding how to use student data to drive continuous improvement and tailor instruction to meet learning needs is highly desirable.

Ashfield PS has a diverse student population with staff receiving ongoing training and support to ensure a continued focus on culturally responsive practices. Suitable applicants shouold be committed to embedding culturally responsive practices inside and outside the classroom.

Our whole school approach to our students social and emotional wellbeing ensures each child is engaged, belongs, and feels connected to our school. The ability to establish genuine, positive, and caring relationships with our students is essential. Knowledge, understanding and experience in implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) alongside an understanding of trauma-informed practice is crucial.

We are seeking teachers with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, which underpin professional and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. Ashfield has a strong school community with families valued as active participants in their child’s education. Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
