Appointment Pool

Are you passionate about supporting students to achieve their best?

Churchlands Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

Suitable applicants will ideally have knowledge on the diverse needs of students and the ability to identify and implement a variety of suitable strategies within the classroom to promote engagement. Individuals who have experience working with students with moderate, severe and complex needs are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of the supports and processes within the department such as Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), School of Special Education Needs (SSEN) and Disability Resourcing is advantageous but not required.

To be suitable for this role, you will ideally demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to support working with teachers, student services staff, students and parents. Experience with collaboratively writing Individual Educational Plans (IEP’S) through the Reporting to Parents (RTP) platform will be highly regarded. Teachers at Churchlands SHS engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice to create an environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that cater for different student learning needs.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
