St Mary’s Catholic College is a co-educational secondary school, situated in the beautiful Richmond Valley region of the Far North Coast of NSW. The College is found on the Bundjalung land. The College has a long history and is steeped in both the Marist and Mercy traditions. The College offers a broad range of subjects to all students and delivers the Stage 6 courses in the Compressed Curriculum model.

Literacy Coach (Co2)
Full time permanent position

The Literacy Coach, as a member of the Learning Collaborative Team (Lyn Sharratt), plays a vital role in supporting the success of all teachers and students in secondary schools.
The primary leadership activities for this position focus on the implementation of a school-wide high-impact assessment and instruction priority that integrates literacy across the curriculum.
Literacy Coaches support staff in the delivery of assessment-based instruction that is intentionally differentiated to meet the strengths, needs and interests of each student across all curriculum areas with a focus on Stage 4.
Applicants must:
- have a current NSW Working with Children Check
- full accreditation with NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA)
- compliance with the Accreiditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy upon appointment
Teacher Accreditation:
Teachers who are appointed to a leadership position, whether new to the position or applying to be re-appointed, should have begun, or will begin to make a commitment to the requirements of the diocese Accreiditation to Work Teach and Lead, Category C (Category E for positions of Catechesis and School Evangelisation), during this next triennium cycle.
To be eligible to apply for a (Co2) position a teacher would normally be classified as Band 2 (Proficient Teacher) Level 1 on the Teachers Standards Classification.
Criteria
The successful applicant will be a teacher who:
1. demonstrates the four beliefs in their teaching
a) All students can learn given sufficient time and support b) All teachers can teach to high standards given the right conditions and assistance c) High expectations and early and on-going intervention are essential d) Teachers need to be able to articulate what they do and why they teach the way they do.
2. demonstrates exemplary instructional practice.
3. understands and demonstrates “Curriculum Design” planning.
4. uses assessment information to differentiate instruction to effectively support the strengths, needs, and interests of students.
5. embeds literacy strategies including digital literacy into their subject area.
6. uses a coaching model to support others’ learning.
