Position Information 

Marayong Public School is situated in Western Sydney. The school has a student population of approximately 618 students, including seven support classes (made up of students with autism, mild and moderate intellectual disabilities) and a preschool that caters for 80 students. Our school demographics include 66% of students from Non-English-Speaking Backgrounds, comprising of 29 nationalities, 46 different languages and 42 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Our school reflects a diversity of socioeconomic circumstances.

Whole school priorities our currently being finalised using a rigorous self-assessment process and consultation with our local community. The strategic directions will include: Student growth and attainment in literacy and numeracy and Student Wellbeing. In 2024, the whole school will focus on reading and mathematics with an emphasis on explicit teaching and direct instruction.  

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach Infants and primary with a demonstrated ability to use evidence-based pedagogy and knowledge of the new syllabuses to develop and deliver engaging teaching and learning programs that result in maximum literacy and numeracy growth for all students.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop positive class learning environments that enhance individual student engagement and well-being with a proven capability to support a diverse range of students, including those from a non-English speaking background.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work actively and authentically when collaborating with students, staff, and parents to support student outcomes and promote a positive school culture.
  • A commitment to enriching student learning and wellbeing by actively contributing to the provision and support of whole school programs and extra-curricular opportunities for students such as sport, dance or choir.
  
Conditions 
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
