Teacher of Maritime (Aboriginal Targeted) - Paid to Learn

Campus location: Ultimo

Permanent part-time (working 17.5 hours per week)

Package range: $100,936 - $119,706. Package includes salary of $89,730 - $106,416 per annum paid pro rata, employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Essential requirements:

  • Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications with a minimum level of both of the following, or equivalent:
    • Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 45m)
    • Certificate III in Marine Engineering (MED 2) Near Coastal Operations
  • Must hold an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) recognised Certificate of Competence to the level or above the level that the qualification, a relevant seafarer certificate, as master, engineering or deck officer issued under the Navigation Act 2012.
  • Hold the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent OR a willingness to undertake our full time 14 week ‘Paid to Learn’ course.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience relevant to your industry.

Highly Desirable:

  • A higher-level qualification such as a Diploma of Maritime Operations or Engineering
  • Previous experience in the offshore industry and/or working on tugs

This is a targeted recruitment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in accordance with Rule 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014 - Employment of eligible persons. As such, preference will be given to candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.  If no suitable candidate is found, other applications may also be considered. Aboriginal candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide “Confirmation of Aboriginality” documentation with their application.

Paid to Learn: for candidates who do not hold the TAE40122 or equivalent, you have the option to be Paid to Learn as you transition from industry to teaching with guaranteed work following successful completion of the 14 weeks Training and Assessment course. Those who already hold the TAE qualification or equivalent are still eligible to apply.
