The Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy is a partnership between the Department of Education and Training and Good to Great Schools. CYAAA encompasses two campuses, Coen and Hopevale, with both campuses implementing the Direct Instruction and Explicit Direct Instruction models. Living in Hopevale

Located approximately 370km north of Cairns and just under 50km north west of Cooktown is the Indigenous community of Hopevale. Set in a valley, Hopevale is surrounded by tropical native bushland, mountain ranges, and pristine coastline. The region is home to the Guugu Yimithirr Warra Nation people who hail from thirteen clans. The main local language spoken in Hopevale is Guugu Yimithirr, other related languages and English are also spoken.

Access to Hopevale is by road from Cooktown via the Peninsula Development Road. Local amenities include Health centre, sporting facilities, a supermarket and cafes. Be sure to make time to explore the region; there are plenty of adventures to be had in this beautiful part of the cape.

Please note Hopevale is an Alcohol Management Plan community.
