This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

Narrogin Primary School (PS) is seeking two (2) passionate, hardworking Primary Teachers to join their regional school.

About the role

Narrogin PS Staff are committed to continual reflection on their own professional knowledge, practice and level of engagement, following rigorous planning and assessment cycles. There is a culture of analysis in which staff routinely diagnose the impact of their teaching to drive whole school planning and monitor student achievement and progress.

Applicants should have the empathy to demonstrate strong cultural responsiveness and be committed to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.

Successful applicants should display the use of exemplary instructional practices that engage students and result in high levels of achievement, engagement and progress. Teachers that can differentiate the curriculum through researched and evidenced based practice, lesson design, instructional strategies and flexible lesson delivery will be considered advantageous.

The capacity to work as an active and effective member of a collaborative team, by sharing experiences and resources, responding to feedback, displaying an ongoing commitment to professional development, including peer and classroom observations will form an important aspect of this role.

Applicants who wish to teach in the early years (Kindergarten to Year 2) should support an approach of intentional teaching and purposeful play-based learning to achieve specific outcomes for individual students. Strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum Outline, Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards, embedded in the learning environment would be ideal.

Teachers who have knowledge and expertise in key whole school approaches will be viewed favourably. These include: high impact teaching strategies, Heggerty, MulitLit suite, including InitiaLit, Spelling Mastery, Stepping Stones Mathematics and Brightpath.

Narrogin Primary School is located within the Wheatbelt South regional centre of Gnarojin, Narrogin, on Wilman Boodjar, boasting a population of 5,000 people.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
