Collie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Teacher - Science - STEM to join the supportive and team oriented Science department at this high quality regional school. The position offers the right applicant the opportunity to expand and develop the schoolwide STEM focus along with teaching lower school Science. The position is currently 0.8FTE but may be increased to full time based on the needs of the school and of the applicant.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Collie Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
Collie SHS is seeking a Teacher - Science - STEM to join a collaborative team of teachers; who is relationship focussed and has a flexible and inclusive approach to learning. The successful applicant will ideally display the ability to provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs as outlined in the Australian Curriculum, employing research based high impact teaching strategies. The successful applicant will have the ability to embed positive student behaviour strategies in their instructional practice.
Experience in teaching in the Science Learning Area is highly regarded but we would encourage graduates who have an interest in STEM and digital technologies to also apply.
It will be highly regarded if the successful applicant can develop a supportive and positive classroom environment, possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively and effectively in a professional learning community setting. The successful applicant should display an ability to elicit positive student behaviour using a restorative approach.
They should have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. The capacity to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of achievement levels, language backgrounds and learning difficulties will be highly regarded.
