About the roleThe successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary HASS school curriculum. As part of this role, you should engage and build productive working relationships with students and be involved collaboratively with your colleagues and community to improve student results.The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. You will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. A willingness to teach across multiple learning areas, predominantly in HASS is highly regarded.With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant should challenge and confront complex and conventional practices to provide successful outcomes for students, and continually reflect on their own practices to enhance performance. The ability to meet the holistic needs of students will be highly valued and integral to improving student outcomes, as well as supporting continuous school improvement.Our schoolDalwallinu DHS has strong partnerships with the local community. We cater for students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and have a friendly atmosphere typical of a small rural community. We have approximately 70 students in our secondary school and our classes all have less than 20 students. Year 11/12 students learn through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) and our Year 7-10 students receive face-to-face teaching in specialist secondary classrooms. Approximately 40% of our students are from families born overseas, predominately Filipino. Many of our students live on farms in the surrounding areas and travel to school by bus. We enjoy a high level of parent support and engagement and a very low level of misbehaviour.Our vision is to empower and inspire our students to become life-long learners through high-quality teaching and learning.
