There is a vacancy within our Maths/ Science department. This position could be modified to suit a teacher with experience and or interest in senior and junior Maths and Science. The position would be attractive to a teacher with an interest in senior Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Maths. Early career teacher/ Beginning Teacher and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate would be working in a very supportive staffroom, have full access to our Early Career Teacher program, weekly HOD Mentor support to improve their classroom techniques.

Chinchilla (pop – 6,600) is one of the towns located on the Warrego Highway, about 2 hours west of Toowoomba on the Warrego Highway leading out to Charleville. Agriculture is the mainstay of the community, with beef and pork production, wool growing, and horticulture traditionally underwriting the local economy. The district also produces 25% of Australia's melons, and Chinchilla hosts the annual Melon Festival, attracting thousands of visitors.
Chinchilla State High School is an integral part of the community and its traditions and history is firmly embedded in the culture of the area. Chinchilla SHS is a medium sized regional school servicing a regional and rural area which allows us to encourage the development of professional skills. Generations of the same family have attended the school and they value education and community involvement in the school. Students come to the high school from six feeder primary schools, including two independent schools. Most students from these schools transition to Chinchilla State High School. Approximately 560 students attend Chinchilla state High School in Years 7-12. Roughly 50% of the student body are from the surrounding rural areas, while the other half live in town. Due to the presence of gas and mining industries in the area, the school is enrolling an increasing number of international students and students from coastal areas.
