Moruya Public School has a proud and long tradition for over 140 years of public education in the Eurobodalla. The site was a central school until the high school was built in 1970. In addition to its historical significance Moruya Public School promotes high academic achievement and inclusive educational and welfare practices. We establish high expectations for our students and offer them the opportunity, encouragement and support required to lay the foundation for learning for life. The school is proud of its excellent reputation for the quality and safety of this learning environment. It is an inclusive Public School of some 325 students and 30 members of staff. The school has a significant enrolment of Indigenous students, four special education classes for students with additional and complex learning needs in both mainstream and support classrooms. The school promotes academic excellence for talented students and extra-curricular activities in sport and the performing arts. The 1.0 Itinerant Support Teacher Hearing, while based at Moruya Public School, is part of the Far South Coast Specialist Team as led by the Assistant Principal Hearing based at Milton Public School.
- Approval to teach Hearing Impairment. Successful teaching experience with the capacity to initiate improvement in teaching and learning in meeting the personalised learning and differentiation needs of students with hearing loss and with other complex disabilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policy and Partnership Agreement. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with schools, students, their families, and communities.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and student wellbeing with the capacity to plan, deliver and evaluate high quality differentiated Literacy and Numeracy programs with improved outcomes and student engagement.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build collaborative relationships and engage students, staff, parents, and paraprofessionals.
- Experience and/or willingness to engage in professional learning, including but not limited to Auslan and the relationship with student self-advocacy disability skills.
