Holman Place School is a School for Specific Purposes, located on Wiradjuri Land in Cowra. Holman Place School caters for students from Kindergarten through to year 12 who have diagnosed needs of Autism, moderate or severe intellectual disabilities or mental health diagnosis.
There are 5 support classes with 28 students. Each class operates with a teacher and a support officer. We have 34% of students enrolled who identify as Aboriginal, and a total of 97% of students who have a primary diagnosis of Autism.
Students have Individual Education Plans and Personalised Learning Plans which are collaborated together with staff, families and external supports. The school fosters excellence through academic, social and behavioural programs catered for students and the school works closely with families for the achievement of student outcomes.
Students are encouraged to 'Soar Alone' in all areas of their schooling to achieve their personal best. We advocate for our students to have the right to take place in society now and in the future. Our school is striving to be a Centre of Excellence.
Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with intellectual and physical needs, autism and challenging behaviours, moderate intellectual disabilities and behaviour difficulties.
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, modify and monitor quality personalised learning and support plans and proven capacity to develop differentiated and innovative learning programs.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work collaboratively, and professionally with staff, parents/carers, external support agencies and the wider school community, to build and enhance a culture of inclusivity and excellence.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusive practices that cater for diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and students from low socio-economic groups.
