Taree High School, nestled in the heart of the Manning Valley, is a comprehensive inclusive co-educational high school, has an enrolment of approximately 700 students from Years 7–12, including 23% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The school is part of the Connected Communities Strategy across NSW and provides tailored programs to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students and their families. Local Gathang Language and Culture is taught to all students in Year 7 through the LOTE Program; Stage 6 Aboriginal Studies and Leadership Programs for Aboriginal students.
The school has a tradition of achievement in academic, sporting and artistic pursuits and has a culture, which recognises and celebrates the successes of all of its students. Taree High School’s curriculum and welfare structures are designed to promote self–reliance and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions and their learning. - Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging and challenging differentiated programs to meet diverse student learning needs, including the needs of gifted and talented students and students needing learning support.
- Capacity to initiate and contribute to faculty priorities with demonstrated understanding of the content of the new syllabi and ability to work collaboratively in its implementation.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education's Aboriginal Educational Policies and capacity to improve Aboriginal student outcomes.
