This teaching position provides exciting opportunities for people with a commitment to innovative teaching practices wishing to join a teaching team dedicated to delivering a unique student experience.

We are looking for a passionate and innovative academic with expertise in Exercise/Sport Psychology keen to take workshops and other sessions with students as part of our VU First Year College®. 
 

About the Role:

As a Teaching Focused Academic, you will have the opportunity to work within our VU First Year College®, who offer a unique learning experience designed specifically for first year students.  

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) continuing position, commencing in February 2024 at a TFAA 3 - 6 Classification Level, Salary range $79,245 – $89,913 per annum (pro rata), plus 17% Superannuation.
 

About You:

We want to hear from you if you:

  • Have completed a master’s degree in Sport Science and/or Exercise Science or Psychology, with specialisation in Exercise Psychology and/or Sport Psychology or related discipline
  • Have experience of higher education teaching in the area of Exercise Psychology and/or Sport Psychology
  • Have a strong passion for teaching and a desire for continuous improvement and development in student learning
  • Possess a background in training or teaching at the higher education level, particularly in first year
  • Want to contribute to the ongoing development of teaching methodologies
  • Are keen to contribute to research programs within the discipline and the college
  • Can facilitate excellence in undergraduate teaching through the development and promotion of innovative teaching methods
     

Duties:

  • Design innovative curricula and develop learning materials in collaboration with other colleagues as appropriate. 
  • Develop and facilitate learning activities online, distributed, face-to-face or in a blended capacity as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning and which reflect a command of the discipline and contemporary pedagogic practices.
  • Determine the learning needs of students and provide appropriate teaching and learning environments and support to help students achieve the intended learning outcomes.
  • Assess learning and provide timely feedback that students can use to inform future assessment tasks.
  • Engage in continuing professional learning and qualifications, if appropriate, in both discipline theory and practice and the teaching of the discipline.
