​What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader - ACT Policing, Technical Services Team.

As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

The ACT PolicingTechnical Services Team undertake technical functions for ACT Policing including projects, maintenance and support for:

  • CCTV/AV
  • Radio network
  • Speed detection equipment
  • Vehicle fitouts
  • Breathalyser capabilities

The ACT PolicingTechnical Services Team is responsible for the Service Delivery to the AFP for a vast range of technical requirements.

The Team Leader responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Achieve technical outcomes within required timeframes;
  • Conduct design and implementation of technical systems;
  • Complete regular documentation updates and maintain document control standards;
  • Undertake a range of operational support tasks including team administrative duties when required or as directed;
  • Preparation of briefing material, correspondence, submissions and reports for ACT Policing executive and stakeholders;
  • Management of a small team to deliver the section outputs;
  • Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role;
  • Possess the ability to prioritise tasks within the team structure and adapt to change regularly; and
  • Management of key stakeholder relationships, both internal and external to ACT Policing.

Essential Requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
  • Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
  • Current First Aid certificate or the ability to obtain one
  • Current Drivers licence

Desirable Requirements

​The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

  • Electrical and Data/trade experience;
  • Electronic and CCTV Security industry experience;
  • Certificate 3 in Electronics, Radio/Telecommunications and/or relevant experience;
  • Experience in law enforcement or emergency services radio networks or similar;
  • Heavy Rigid Vehicle and Motorbike Licences; and
  • Possess ability to work at heights, confined spaces and in difficult physical circumstances.
