A bit about the role
Lead by effectively managing staff, formulating policies and procedures, engaging stakeholders, achieving service levels and standards.
What you’ll deliver
- Lead the team to deliver the organisation’s strategic planning objectives and initiatives with a shared leadership approach.
- Provide direction, role clarity and coaching to ensure team members have clear work objectives,
- Manage day-to-day work priorities of the City Design team to meet departmental and corporate objectives, including monitoring and delegation of work to relevant staff.
- Lead Casey’s Design Excellence Program by implementing the vision of the program.
- Prepare and implement plans, policies and documents for the design and creation of holistic, meaningful and responsive urban, civil and landscape improvement projects.
- Provide strategic direction, design critique and effective expert advice on design proposals applying knowledge of best practice and sustainability principles.
- Develop and implement key design initiatives in the City of Casey including urban & landscape design frameworks, master plans, public realm strategies and other policies for activity areas.
- Build robust partnerships that transcend traditional and community boundaries.
What you’ll bring
- Degree or Masters in Architecture, Urban Design or Landscape Architecture or relevant industry experience.
- Relevant experience in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, City Planning or a related field.
- Understanding of the relevant Acts of Parliament and associated regulations, codes of practice and Australian standards
- Strong leadership and management skills are essential for coordinating a team and managing complex design projects.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight, as many City Design projects involve significant budgets.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check & Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
