A bit about the role
Due to a long-term internal secondment, we are seeking a dynamic Team Leader to manage and support our high performing and valued Events team. In this role you will develop and deliver a range of council led events to enhance the liveability of Wyndham for our community and visitors. Our programs are relevant, regularly re-imagined and reflect the growth and needs of our community.
You will support the team to continue to build on their strengths in delivering events that engage diverse audiences, are creatively and artistically excellent and that support community connections in Wyndham City. You will lead the team to work in close collaboration and partnership with the Arts, Cultural Venues & Events Department to deliver strategic experiences for the Wyndham community.
The Events program currently includes a Major Events program, support to Civic and Internal Events and support to community organisations through the grants and skills development.
What you’ll deliver
- Guidance, support, expert knowledge, and leadership to the Events team in all aspects of the events program
- Diverse events across a range of locations in Wyndham for our growing community
- An events program that is technically and financially sound, safe, meets best practice, is inclusive and complies with all relevant standards and legislation
- Ongoing review, evaluation and direction into the overall program of events and leadership to continue to grow event audiences for the program
- Implementation of operational and strategic directions that align with Creative Wyndham (a new strategic document currently in development), as well as input into department and service business plans
- Input and oversight into all technical, programming, communications, production and safety planning and scheduling.
- Strong relationships and collaborative outcomes across the Arts, Culture & Events unit, internal and external stakeholders
- Support to build and retain a skilled and engaged team to be respond to future change
What you’ll bring
- An inspiring leadership style with proven experience in managing, motivating and leading teams within events programs
- Diverse experience in managing and leading a range of event formats and programs
- Excellent management and business planning skills with strong financial management, technical knowledge and relevant experience in an events and leadership role
- Demonstrated experience in responding constructively to challenges and to prioritise and resolve emerging issues
- A qualification in Events Management and an applied knowledge of working within government agencies; or relevant experience to demonstrate capacity
- A confident and resolute approach to ensuring that policies, practices and procedures are adhered to and responsive to best practice changes and sector needs
- A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
