SALARY: $2,074.14 - 2,376.22 per week + Super + Leaseback vehicle

Camden Council's Public Affairs team are on the look out for a passionate and results driven Team Leader Events. Reporting to the Manager Public Affairs, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high quality community & civic events and coordinate the external event application process.

Essential:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive industry experience
• Previous experience in leading teams
• Extensive experience in organising functions and outdoor community events including the preparation and administration of budgets.
• An understanding of the events industry including the constraints and opportunities for Camden in attracting visitors to the area.
• Awareness of current state, national events trends, key issues and stakeholders.
• Highly developed written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to present to groups
• Understanding of market research and its application in targeted programs
• Demonstrated knowledge of promotion and marketing initiatives, particularly events and destination marketing
• Proven ability to build cooperative relationships with community groups, media and local businesses
• Proven ability to prioritise multiple tasks, think creatively, solve problems and meet deadlines
• Willingness to work flexible and extended hours, including nights and weekends as required
• Ability to work either unsupervised or part of a team with experience in managing external contractors
• Proficient in computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing and power point
• Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times

Desirable:

• Understanding of private enterprise and issues relevant to small business
• Experience in web site development, desktop publishing and database skills
• Knowledge of government protocol, policies and procedures

To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs.
