Worker Assistance Team Leader
ForestWorks are providing support services to workers impacted by the Victorian Forestry Plan.
We are seeking a dynamic and committed Team Leader.
You will lead a passionate team of Worker Assistance Coordinators who are the first point of contact for impacted workers and their families across Victoria.
This is a highly rewarding role with excellent remuneration and benefits for the right candidate.
This is a fixed term position to 31 October 2025 starting ASAP, end date will be subject to successful conclusion of the transition program and may be extended.
The role is based in Victoria; location flexible for the right candidate, with travel expected across the region. Our corporate office is based in Carlton and regional office is based in Morwell.

The organisation’s core focus is on skills development initiatives and programs that assist industry adapt to changing operating environments.
The Worker Assistance Team Leader’s duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Management and Coordination:
- Lead and line-manage: Oversee the team of ten Worker Assistance Coordinators by providing clear direction, guidance, and mentorship. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Capacity Building: Identify individual strengths and areas for development within the team. Implement communications and skill-building initiatives to enhance their effectiveness.
- Empowerment: Encourage autonomy and decision-making among coordinators, allowing them to take ownership of their responsibilities.
- Team Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration amongst Worker Assistance Coordinators and other ForestWorks teams. Share progress updates and address challenges collectively.
- Problem-Solving: Address challenges faced by the Worker Assistance Coordinators promptly. Encourage a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Wellbeing: Foster wellbeing and a positive workplace culture.
- Effective Communication and Relationship Building:
- Stakeholder Engagement: As required provide accurate and timely information to all relevant stakeholders. Foster transparent communication channels.
- Internal and External Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving:
- Compliance: Ensure that program operations adhere to program guidelines, contracts, and organisational policies. With the Program Manager regularly review processes to maintain compliance.
- Standardisation and Documentation:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop, implement, and review SOPs. Ensure best practices are documented and followed consistently.
- Participation and Collaboration:
- Meeting Engagement: Attend relevant meetings to stay informed and contribute insights. Actively participate in cross-functional discussions.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in successfully setting priorities and contributing to the delivery of medium to large sized projects and programs.
- People management experience in leading, motivating, performance managing and mentoring your team members.
- Experience in successfully setting priorities and contributing to the delivery of the Worker Support Program.
- Thorough understanding of privacy and confidentiality, ensuring adherence to all confidentiality and privacy policies and procedures.
- Experience working within the employment services industry desirable.
- Strong understanding of the forestry sector and the needs of businesses and workers affected by the Victorian Forestry Plan desirable.
- Highly developed written skills, a high level of attention to detail and the proven ability to convert complex information into plain language.
- A sound understanding of MS Office or related software.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures, backgrounds, and abilities.
- Skill in contributing to contract management activities that promote continuous improvement and maintain compliance across our programs.
- An eye for detail, is efficient and understands the need for compliance.
- Ability to proactively analyse and assess uncomfortable situations and to identify appropriate resolutions.
- Ability to remain professional and tactful.
Benefits
- Range $135,000 to $139,000 per annum plus superannuation
- 14% Superannuation (as compared to the standard 11%)
- Five weeks annual leave for every completed year of service.
