Job Description
This is an exciting Entry Level position that involves ensuring the visual and technical quality of productions and outside broadcasts. This is done by delivering high-quality picture output and managing technical facilities. It is part of a small team within the Technical Operations team, working regular shifts across live and pre-recorded programs.
Day to day includes but won’t be limited to:
Studio:
- Develop expertise in the camera chain and studio equipment maintenance.
- Monitor video sources and adjust camera output for consistent quality.
- Collaborate with the production team for optimal vision and technical execution.
- Report and address faults in studio and control room equipment promptly.
- Liaise with the lighting director to ensure balanced light levels during production.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, occupational health, and safety standards.
- Conduct technical checks and assist with equipment configuration as needed.
Outside Broadcast:
- Liase with operators and ensure adherence to safety protocols during outside broadcasts.
- Liaise with the production team to optimise camera and vision equipment application.
- Prepare documentation and oversee equipment installation for outside productions.
- Serve as Technical Director, monitoring camera alignment and quality during productions.
Qualifications
What we would like to see on your resume:
- Strong understanding of electronics and ability to troubleshoot problems logically.
- Proficiency in PC systems, internet, and software like Google Suite and VSM.
- Effective team player with self-motivation and autonomy, coupled with excellent communication skills.
- Capacity to plan, prioritise, and work under pressure, demonstrating initiative.
- Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude with dedication to meeting production needs.
- Desirable qualifications include knowledge of television transmission, precision instruments, production procedures, and relevant tertiary education.
