Reporting to the General Manager for Asset Strategies and Planning, you will thrive on leading technical teams and shaping industry standards. You will orchestrate a dynamic blend of technical expertise and strategic acumen to drive innovation, influence policy, and chart the course towards a sustainable energy future for Queensland.


You will;

  • Develop, manage, and lead a team of technical experts in optimising power system performance and facilitating the connection of renewable and synchronous energy generators
  • Directly manage 3 Team Leaders with a total team of 25 engineers
  • Drive change by collaborating with external bodies and influencing industry standards and regulations to ensure the future resilience and efficiency of the interconnected power system
  • Lead strategic initiatives to align with our vision for a sustainable energy future
  • Provide expert guidance on transmission dynamic plant specifications, design, and tuning to ensure long-term stability and performance for our network


Our Asset Strategy & Planning team is critical for leading our efforts to optimise power system performance, and facilitate the seamless connection of renewable and synchronous energy generators.

Your expertise


This role is tailored for a leader with a passion for engineering innovation and strategic foresight. You will possess a blend of technical expertise in power systems and a proven track record of driving transformative change, influencing industry standards, and forging collaborative partnerships to shape the future of sustainable energy integration.

You will also have;


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering coupled with extensive experience within the transmission sector
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or willing to obtain
  • Extensive experience with a wide range of TNSPs, and industry regulatory bodies such as AEMO
  • Proven ability to make risk-based decisions for Power System dynamic performance
  • Extensive knowledge of power system plant characteristics and the ability to model power system plant and power system behaviour
  • Proven capability in building and maintaining effective relationships with industry stakeholders
  • Leadership experience with an ability to lead teams of technical specialists
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation requirements, including the Electricity Act & National Electricity Rules
