As a Technical Intelligence Analyst in the Defence Intelligence Group (DIG) you will work to understand foreign threats - including weapons systems and associated platforms - using highly technical, scientific and engineering analysis. You will communicate your findings to Australian Government decision makers via a broad range of written intelligence products, visualisation tools and verbal presentations.
You will need to use your technical expertise, initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and strong communication and interpersonal skills on a daily basis to solve complex intelligence problems. You will evaluate technical information from a variety of classified and unclassified sources, and provide Intelligence Assessments drawing on your STEM background to reduce uncertainty in Defence decision making. You will work across Defence, broader Government and the Allies, becoming a subject matter expert to inform strategic national and military decisions.
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).
This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.

The Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO), Space and Missiles Section, provides Intelligence Assessments on state and non-state actors, threat platforms, and other military-strategic issues relevant to Australia's security, the planning and conduct of Australian Defence Force operations, strategic policy formulation, Defence capability development, and government decisions on Defence and national security issues within their technical expertise.
Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO), Space and Missiles Section is comprised of highly motivated APS, ADF and contracting staff who provide technical and subject matter expertise on space, guided weapons and missiles on a range of intelligence related matters. You will work within a distinguished, multidisciplinary, and collaborative team providing specialist scientific and Technical Intelligence advice that powers national security policy and enables national-level decision makers to remain agile amongst challenging and constantly evolving global threats.
