The Technical Lead will drive the design and implementation of large-scale digital platforms to transform human genomics data management in Australia, aiming to advance human health and biomedicine. A major focus of this role will be collaboration with national and international medical research organisations and infrastructure providers.Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the technical scoping, design and architecture of new or existing platforms and services.
- Advising key stakeholders in establishing national standards and roadmaps for Human Genome data sharing, that are aligned with international best practice solutions.
- Providing leadership in systems engineering and integration across multiple partner organisations to establish a unified approach to a sustainable and scalable national ecosystem.
- Supervising development and operations engineers in the team.
- Maintaining close technical collaboration with Technical Leads from partner organisations.
The successful candidate should demonstrate a proven track record in the development and delivery of digital research infrastructure. Additionally, desirable qualities include an understanding of life sciences research, appreciation of ethical considerations in genomics, and active participation in community events.You will also have:
- Postgraduate level qualifications and/or several years of relevant experience in leading the development of digital infrastructure projects.
- Track record in working in a diverse and geographically distributed collaboration involving multiple organisations.
- Track record in delivering distributed systems architectures, considering interfaces, data flows, standards and security.
- High level of experience with modern software engineering methodologies.
