Tarac Technologies, established in 1930 and with over 70 staff, is a leading supplier to the global wine, spirit, beverage, food and agribusiness sectors. Additionally, they develop problem solving services and novel products for wine, whisky, gin, vodka and brandy producers in Australia, the US, UK, Europe, and Asia. As well as providing naturally derived grape seeds, antioxidants and colour additives to domestic and international markets. Tarac also repurpose their own by-products as soil improvers and stock feed ingredients, that will make agribusiness more productive.

While Tarac is a major part of the wine industry, it also supplies its products to other industries including craft distilleries and other alcoholic beverage producers, food, homeopathy, and naturopathy.

About the Opportunity
We have a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a relationship focused winemaker, experienced distiller or food technologist to join Tarac’s close-knit sales department.
  
This role is varied, with a strong focus on both technical skills and high ethos for customer service. You will work closely with the sales manager to assess, grade and provide high quality feedback on all grape spirit being produced. Additionally, you will assist the Sales Manager in serving domestic clients by providing specialist technical advice drawing on your past experiences in either wine, beverage, or food production.
  
You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end sales process; from customer inquiry, fulfilling sample requests and completing sales order with a high level of detail. This role is based at Tarac’s Nuriootpa office, 5 days a week and past 12 months in the role, there will be some intrastate and interstate travel.
  
Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Demonstrate confidence in sensory assessment, communicate effectively by offering valuable insights and making informed decisions during tasting sessions
  • Evaluate, grade, and blend spirit products to ensure they align with customer requirements and specifications
  • Assist the Sales Manager by providing expertise to domestic clients, advising on products and services, and processing orders
  • Support the end-to-end customer experience through strong account management
  • Ensure order and customer information is accurate and up to date
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in oenology, food technology, or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 4 years of post-graduate and relevant work experience
  • A strong industry network is an advantage
  • Previous experience in account management or customer service will be highly regarded
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent sensory skills cultivated in the wine, distilled spirit, beverages, or food industries
  • Proficient in sensory evaluation techniques and the ability to effectively communicate feedback with clients
  • Ability to pick up processes and systems quickly
  • Ability to build strong relationships quickly
  • Strong decision-making and communication abilities
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure and making well-informed decisions
This role demands a confident palate and the ability to offer constructive feedback, even if it differs from the consensus, during tasting sessions.
