Our Barracuda range of mining buckets are used on excavators, shovels and wheel loaders.  Each bucket we deliver is custom-made to meet the site-specific needs of our clients – including ground conditions, commodities, material properties and OEM earthmoving fleet.  We have developed into a premier provider of new and refurbished buckets ranging from 20 tonne hydraulic excavators through to 1,600 tonne rope shovel diggers, some operating in some of the world's harshest digging environments. 

The Opportunity
Responsible to Technical Support Manager – West, the Technical Support Representative – Attachments is the first point of contact and industry-experienced individual for all field support which includes scoping rebuilds, quoting, new bucket commissioning, product support, aftermarket parts sales, inspections, and customer enquiries for our world-class Barracuda mining attachments. 

Supporting our clients professionally, diligently and providing the highest level of customer service and contact, you will also be able to easily develop outstanding, long-lasting and meaningful business relationships.

You will be an experienced and aspiring boilermaker or Engineer familiar with surface mining products (mobile equipment maintenance), with field experience.  You will be confident and a pro-active self-starter, able to develop new business, recommend products for use, and build long-lasting relationships with key decision makers on site.  This is a truly rewarding experience for the right individual to make their mark in the industry.

This position is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with time spent in our Forrestfield office and Waroona Branch. Please note that you will be required to travel to Waroona and client sites therefore be able to spend nights away from home.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain supportive relationships with key site-based decision makers and effectively demonstrate Schlam’s value to our clients
  • Proactively contact site-based stakeholders to arrange any required support 
  • Conduct routine site-based inspections of Payload products
  • Provide Technical Support and recommendations specific to site requirements
  • Serve as a link of communication between customers & internal teams

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • The drive for career development from being ‘on the tools’ to a product knowledge expert
  • Relevant Trade Certificate or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrative experience working in a similar role will be highly regarded
  • A high level of self-motivation with the ability to work autonomously
  • Exemplary and professional customer service focus and support of our customers
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong commitment to safety at all times
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills
  • Ability to pass a full Pre-Employment Medical including a drug and alcohol screen
  • National Police Certificate
