Technician - Resident Field Service

The Opportunity:

Due to major growth within the business, Komatsu has a position on offer for Resident Technician to become a part of the team in our Field Service Department in Rockhampton, Queensland. Reporting to the Service Supervisor, your role will see you maintaining and repairing the Komatsu range of equipment to ensure optimum quality, availability and performance. Carry out maintenance and repairs on any other equipment nominated by the Company. Actively participate in communication and data collection between Komatsu and the nominated resident technician customer base to maintain and improve relationships.

This position offers an immediate start within a high-performing team in this highly established and rapidly growing business. 

Roster: Monday to Friday with RDO

What we are looking for:

• Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or similar
• Experience on mine sites on Komatsu Electric Trucks, Komatsu 830E and 930E’s, PC7000, PC5500 and PC4000 (a must)
• Experience with Komatsu large diggers (desirable)
• Must be located in the Bilo area or close by
• Extensive knowledge and previous experience of the repair and maintenance of earthmoving equipment and components
• Current understanding of Komatsu ICT systems i.e., Komtrax, EQP Care, Link One, Qld Aftermarket Database
• A minimum of five years post trade experience in a field maintenance position
• Current MR classification driver's licence (minimum requirements)
• All current tickets including first aid, forklift, work at heights or the ability to obtain
• A demonstrated commitment to safety with the ability to work in remote areas and unsupervised
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good understanding of computer systems

Key Responsibilities:

• Performing services, repairs and maintenance on a range of Komatsu mobile equipment
• Maintaining high levels of safety, quality and efficiency
• Providing excellent customer service to our customers
• Performing machine diagnostics
• Ensure all repairs and tasks are performed in a timely manner
• Complete and submit Mobile Service Forms during servicing, repair or inspection of customer equipment
• Source and requisition parts through the appropriate parts manuals and ordering procedures
• Ensure unused parts are returned for credit in a prompt timely manner
• Ensure that all parts removed from machines under warranty are tagged and secured in the designated area
• Ability to demonstrate competencies of testing and adjusting of machine operating and monitoring systems utilising relevant literature and testing equipment
• Coordinating site-based equipment maintenance projects (in particular, coordinating job packet requirements, following job scope and critical path)
• Generating required technical reports (such as service reports and TSI & warranty claim processes)
