How will I help?

The Technology Domain Owner is responsible for all aspects of the Business Village Technology (service management, delivery, risk, finance). This role is specifically for the new Appian application portfolio - Appian is WBC strategic workflow platform operating as a PaaS.

The ideal candidate will 7 years + experience with Appian, has a strong understanding of API from a technology perspective, has previously worked in financial institutions and has extensive skills in people leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management.

The role will be part of Group Operations Technology, this business unit are partners to Group Operations Business as they continue to look for improvements and efficiencies to create a better future for our customers. The focus is on Simplification, Digitisation and Automation. You will be working very closely with the business project teams, CTO and numerous solution provider teams across the wider Group Tech community. Other key stakeholders include technology and operations risk teams. The ideal candidate will also navigate between strategic transformation plans and immediate business needs to propose fit for purpose solution designs aligned with Appian.

This role must be based in Sydney, it is a hybrid role which means the candidate will need to attend the office at least twice a week.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setting a clear vision and strategy with collaboration from the Technology Head of and LOB, drive the QBR process from the village perspective to ensure we achieved the prioritised business outcomes.
  • Support the village with operating model principles including QBR, OKR and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinating, empowering, and enabling the village to deliver to customers' needs and delight them, including communicating impediments to delivery.
  • Build a highly engaged workforce through role modelling Westpac's leadership standard and fostering the same standard of leadership down through the organisation.
  • Developing village competency and identify/resolve capability gaps within the village by working with the Technology Head of, Agile Coach and Chapter Lead
  • Accountable for managing solution risks in the village within appetite.
  • Accountable for service/product decisions in the fast-paced environment.
  • Serves as an escalation point for Technology Service Owners such as Chief Engineer, Lead Tech lead.
  • People leadership accountabilities, including developing strategic workforce plans and developing village capability for Appian technology and a higher and more consistent standard of maturity in conjunction with the Heads of.
  • Accountable for Delivery, end to end Service Management, risk, and Financials for the Appian village.

  • Appian - 7+ years.
  • People Leadership - 10+ years.
  • Leading system Integration design, engineering across.
  • Enterprise Applications and integrations - 10+ years.
  • Extensive skills in people leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management.
  • Background in working for financial institutions and an understanding of regulations.
