Telecoms Technician with experience in installation, testing and commissioning of telecommunications systems in industrial environments.
Competencies
- Field technician experience in industrial environments
- IP networking and security infrastructure installation
- Cabling (optical fibre, copper, data and ELV power cables)
- Optical fibre cable inspection, cleaning, handling and testing
- Telecommunications DC systems installation (chargers, DC supplies and solar systems)
- Telecommunications rack/cubicle/cabinet installation
- Telecommunications technical documentation and associated commissioning and testing procedures
- Telecommunications qualifications/certifications or related field experience
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- ACMA Open Cabling registration
- Experience in following WHS procedures and practices
- Competent in the use of hand tools
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors and team members
- Time management skills
- Willing to travel and/or stay overnight occasionally for project delivery
- Experience in organising own work (Technician role) or experience in leading/organising teams and jobs (Team Lead role)
- Telecommunications experience in the electricity utility sector
- Electricity networks LAN & WAN experience
- UHF and Microwave radio systems installation
- Multiplexer systems (PDH, SDH) and IP based systems including MPLS
- Knowledge of electrical power systems and their operation
- Protection Signalling systems
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and the associated telemetry, automation, and networking systems
- Powerline Carriers (Digital & Analogue) including LMUs & Line Traps
- CAD competencies
- Knowledge of Microsoft office applications
- Knowledge of IPv4 networking
