One of our clients, Bayside Technologies, is looking for an experienced Telecommunications Technologist. Bayside Technologies, located in North Shore, VIC, is a prominent provider of cabling solutions for both residential and commercial buildings, specializing in Fibre to the Home (FTTH) installations. They are known for being the only Victorian installers for Opticomm Fibre Communities, offering comprehensive services from design to final connection. With over 50 years of combined experience in the telecommunications industry, Bayside Technologies partners with builders, customers, and carriers to ensure seamless connectivity to fiber networks. The details for this position are defined below:Position: Telecommunications TechnologistSalary: $73,150 + 11% SuperannuationLocation: Eastern suburbs particularly Cranbourne, Clyde North and Officer with the depot there located at Sladen Street Cranbourne.About the role:The Telecommunications Technologist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems and networks at Bayside Technologies. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.The primary purpose of the role is:? Ensure efficient engagement in operations within your assigned region or business area, focusing on OptiComm and Bayside projects, to achieve successful completion of tasks both on the network and in customer homes.
? Deliver Level 2/3 support for service calls and installations, including the setup of customer equipment following ONT installation and performing maintenance as needed.
? Provide advanced support via telephone to assist other technicians as required.Job responsibilities and duties include:? Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment and systems in Opticomm (Unity Group) Optical Fibre Network and Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), including Fibre Optic Installation, Optical Line Terminal, Optical Network Termination Device, Kingrays, modems, routers, switches, and other network devices.
? Perform routine checks, updates, and repairs to ensure the reliability and functionality of the telecommunications infrastructure.
? Diagnose and resolve technical issues and outages in the telecommunications network.
? Provide technical support to address connectivity or equipment problems.
? Advice on designing and optimizing telecommunications networks for enhanced performance and efficiency.
? Recommend and implement upgrades and improvements to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
? Conduct tests and quality assurance procedures to ensure the proper functioning of telecommunications equipment and systems.
? Utilize field testing tools such as PON meter, VFL, OTDR, LFT, Splicer, DSX8000 Cable Analyser, Satking 2500C High-Definition Terrestrial TV meter, multimeter, and general hand tools.
? Document network activities, report, and maintain detailed field records of network commissioning, provisioning, installations, and maintenance using Microsoft Dynamics, Verizon Connect software, and Tradecloud software.
? Report directly to OptiComm Network Operation Centre (NOC) Engineers in Level 1 and Level 2, OptiComm Field Service Manager, and Supervisor.
? Coordinate with delivery partners and clients to perform installation and repair tasks.
? Maintain comprehensive job logs detailing work carried out, including location, status, inventory, and equipment, and share this information with delivery partners.
? Train and supervise cable technicians and installers, including conducting quality assurance checks.
? Planned or impromptu visit to a team member work site in order to see work quality, discuss issues, undertake training, follow-up on concerns or issues, along with handling customer complaints and handling user issues.
? Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety laws and regulations.To be accepted for this role:? Have atleast 2 years of professional working experience as a Telecommunications Engineer/Technologist.
? Diploma/Advanced Diploma or higher in Telecommunication Systems or any related field.
? Must have full-working rights to work in Australia, Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents preferred.
