Join us on a casual contract for supporting our client's project in Western Australia's Pilbara region. The role is for 12+ months employed out of Perth with flexible rosters including 8/6 days, 2/2 weeks or 2/1 weeks and can accommodate arrangements for interstate workers. You will be required to have flexibility and mobility in the workplace, available to work weekends and on public holidays as a fly in fly out employee.
About The Role
As an Onboard Engineer, you will join a team responsible for testing and commissioning of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems onboard locomotives. You will gain valuable exposure and experience in start-of-the-art signalling solutions, enhancing your technical expertise while playing a crucial role in the safety and efficiency of heavy haul railway operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create/review Technical documentation, such as test plans, test specifications, Test procedure and test reports.
- Develop the test programme and coordinate the activities with different parties and the necessary resources to achieve the objectives in quality, time and cost.
- Prepare the test methods and execute the static and dynamic tests of all the trainsets in accordance with the Test procedures agreed in the project.
- Analyse the test data, logs, create test reports and present them to the relevant stakeholders
- Manage all faults and issues raised during the testing phase and work in collaboration with the relevant project experts and contractors in the analysis and resolution.
- Create Test logs and NCR's and follow through
- Ensure that all technical, process and HSE related procedures established and followed thoroughly during the entire phase.
- Liaise between the engineering team in Australia and international design and other functions within the project i.e., safety, test and commissioning teams
- Report progress against schedule, highlighting key issues and risks
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary Qualification in Engineering (Electronics/Electrical) or previous equivalent experience in commission ATP systems
- Foreign language: English, full proficient use
- Good analytical skill and previous experience in Test & Commissioning (T&C) or V&V activities for signalling projects are required, preferably with locomotive ATP (ETCS) integration
- Capability of interfacing from technical and managerial perspectives internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent stakeholder management skills including ability to interface with suppliers, customers, partners and internal stakeholders
- Ability to communicate over the radio and take instructions from the Test Managers
