Job description

We are looking for a Testing and Commissioning Coordinator to join our Signalling Test and Commissioning Engineering team. This key role manages the signalling testing and commissioning requirements necessary to satisfy the verification and validation of safety critical signalling and operating systems on a wide range of infrastructure projects.


Here is some of the key deliverables for this role:  

 

  • Undertake inspection of the signalling infrastructure under construction, assessing compliance with defined project engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Develop co-ordinated and efficient sequencing of commissioning activities to optimise overall project Scope, Costs, Time, and resources for all parties.
  • Be responsible for the development of appropriate Assurance documentation, Testing and Commissioning strategies associated with changes to Signalling and Operational Systems infrastructure by engaging with the relevant delivery teams (Both internal and external delivery).
  • Take charge, when required, of the testing and commissioning of complex signalling and operational systems and certify that it is fit for operational use.
  • Manage the processes for production and implementation of documentation required for the test and commissioning plans for railway signalling and operational systems and ensure their appropriateness and completeness in terms of assuring the system they relate to will be safe and fit for operational use.
  • Manage and monitor risks or issues that may affect the on-time handover of the Signalling System and implement appropriate treatments to mitigate or eliminate such risks.
  • Ensure that requirements of train operations and other engineering disciplines are catered for in the development of signalling system commissioning strategies and test plans. Enforce the competency and FAID requirements for the testing and commissioning staff for all activities and ensure that competent testers are assigned for testing and commissioning tasks.

 

 

At a minimum we are looking for someone who can demonstrate the below skills and experience:

 

  • High level of skill in the testing, commissioning and management of safety related Railway signalling and operational systems and equipment.
  • Extensive level of knowledge of railway safe working principles, policies, procedures, and regularity requirements.  
  • Be able to work autonomously.
  • Knowledge in statutory, regulatory and policy obligations, particularly in relation to satisfying the safety, environment, and contracting process requirements in a commercially focused business.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold any of the mandatory qualifications below prior to commencement:

 

  • Any associate Diploma, Bachelor, or Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Institute of Rail Signal Engineers Tester in Charge Licence.
  • It would also be desirable to have a minimum of 10 years railway signalling experience.

Location and other information:

 

  • Brisbane CBD office location, this role will closely support the Major Projects teams including ETCS and RIS Alliance across other Brisbane based and Queensland wide locations. 
  • Whilst this role typically works a standard 76 hour fortnight, there will be a requirement for outside of standard business hours and or weekend work availability, where benefits will apply in order to support key project obligations.
