Position Vacancy - Casual Therapeutic Youth Support Worker
About the Role:
As a Therapeutic Youth Worker with Kids Out West, you'll make a difference in the lives of children and young people who are in Out of Home care. You'll provide effective, flexible and high quality care for kids and young people with high and complex needs, in accordance to their case and behavioral plans.
We typically roster for 24 hour shifts that commence at 2:00pm and conclude at 2:00pm the following day. Work full time hours in just two days per week! Great for work/life balance.
On any given shift, you might:
- Provide day or overnight respite support
- Provide emergency and crisis overnight care
- Supervise contact between children and their families
- Provide Mentoring
- Provide Transport

Kids Out West is an innovative and regionally based accredited preferred service provider for the Department of Communities and Justice and various Non Government Organisations. We specialise in providing flexible service delivery to meet the unique and challenging needs of rural and remote communities in New South Wales.
We are based in Maitland NSW, and cover a large area across the Central and Far West, Riverina, Newcastle/Hunter, Central Coast, New England, Sydney and the Mid North Coast regions.

We are currently recruiting Therapeutic Youth Workers who can support Maitland, Newcastle and surrounding areas.
About You:
- You're passionate about working with vulnerable children, and you want to help make a positive change in their lives.
- You're a great problem solver, and you've got excellent conflict resolution skills.
- You're keen on travelling locally and maybe across NSW.
- You're able to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster, including weekend and overnight shifts.
- You've got great written and oral communication skills, including report writing skills, liaising with multi disciplinary teams and other professionals.
- You've got a current unrestricted drivers license, with a satisfactory driving record (Checks are completed). Your car is reliable and has comprehensive insurance. Please note that provisional licenses are not permitted.
- You hold a current First Aid certificate (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID001 or HLTAID009) Certificate/s
- You hold a current Working with Children's Check for Paid Employment. This role will require you to be entered into the Residential Care Workers Register managed by the Office of the Children’s Guardian. It is important for you to consent to be on the Register to be employed in this sector.
- You have a current National Criminal History Check (issued within last 6 months)
