Tennis Australia (TA) is one of the largest rights-holder, sport’s governing body and media production houses in Asia-Pacific and each year we deliver Australia’s premier sports and entertainment event, the Australian Open (AO).  Employing passionate innovators from around the world and with the value of imagination underpinning everything we do, we strive to create world-leading, iconic experiences for our fans, patrons, and players. To help us achieve this we are now looking for a Tournament Space Creative Design Lead to join our team for immediate start through to the end of February 2025.

About the role

Reporting to the Tournament Space Design Manager, as the Tournament Space Creative Design Lead will be responsible for the creative and design direction and design delivery for AO25 player and Tournament Spaces. You will innovate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create customer-centric solutions and world class branded environments.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the strategic and concept design of the environment/spatial for the player spaces to successfully support the player experience roadmap as set by Ops and bring to life the creative vision
  • Continue to build on and enhance design approach as required by design program, including design language and guidelines, content strategy, functional design, and design categories.
  • Concept unique, one-of-a-kind as well as permanent spaces with the highest creative and cultural vision
  • Create holistic, branded experiences that bring creative direction and overall vision of spatial/environmental design to life.
  • Develop seamlessly integrate cohesive storytelling through Tournament Spaces which compliment broader precinct and event thematic, content pillars and brand narratives.
  • Work collaboratively with AO Ops delivery team and key stakeholders across AO Ops, Brand, Broadcast, PR & Marketing Partnerships to lead program of work that enables ideation, creativity and innovation.
  • Consider sustainability, circular and systems thinking

About you

You will come with 5+ years experience in interior and/or experiential design, with strong project management skills, a documentation skillset, and passion for major events.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Proven background and experience in Design (Interior Design, Event & Activation Design, Exhibition Design).
  • Insightful customer engagement, collaboration and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills, with the ability to influence others.
  • A deep knowledge for and avid consumption of design, architecture, entertainment, music, culture, content, social media, live events and experiences, trends and innovation, with the ability to apply this insight to the creation of interiors and spaces.
  • Management and delivery of projects from all stages.
  • Demonstrated skills in BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape or Sketchup, as well as the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong construction and temporary build knowledge.
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
