Your Opportunity
You will be making a difference by working on our Tenant Participation & Community Engagement (TPCE) program, which is designed to assist social housing tenants of the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to improve the service and support they receive across NSW.
Working at the Kooringal Community Centre you will facilitate building and organising community groups, linking tenants with support services and helping to identify potential community improvements.
Although this is not an identified position, we strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Build relationships with local tenants to address and identify challenges and barriers.
- Map current tenant participation groups and identify gaps and opportunities.
- Facilitate a variety of community wellbeing initiatives/events.
- Facilitate tenant volunteering opportunities within the local community.
- Coordinate tenant training and information sessions in a group setting
- Develop an Aboriginal tenant engagement strategy in partnership with local Aboriginal communities.
- Outreach to isolated or difficult to engage tenants to overcome barriers and engage.
- Build and sustain formal and informal relationships with key stakeholders.
- Diploma in community services/development, health, or related fields
- Experience in community development and building strong relationships within the local network.
- Ideally a background in working with homelessness, social housing, mental health, or youth.
- A proven ability to work autonomously.
- Experience in administration
- A valid NSW Drivers Licence
